Carette's first field trip

We didn't go far, but we did go away from home for her first away show at the Del Mar International. She was a good girl, scoring a 77.2% on Saturday. By Sunday she was a bit pooped and had nothing left in the tank to keep herself together. At least she tried...

We've started playing with lengthenings, counter canter, lateral work. So far so good. I have to keep in mind she's a big girl..and not quite 4 1/2.

SuperSTAR!

More strength and indeed, Carette rocked the house with an astounding 75.2% on Saturday. She followed up with an encore on Sunday, won over hearts & souls, with a stunning 78.4%. This girl is a superstar!

It's happening

Carette's second show. I couldn't be happier. We had mistakes. She needs more strength. But she tried. Even scored her first "9". Hopefully one of many...

Carette's first show

All I can say is: She's a rock star! Not knowing what to expect, especially with a not-quite-four-year-old-mare at her first show, 4 show arenas, music blaring, warm up insane, and she went in there and did her biz. Didn't look at the horse-eating-fire-breathing aliens in the judge's stand. Not only that, apparently the 20 minute warm up was a bit too much for Miss Courageous and other than being too tired to keep a steady frame, she was great. Won her class with a 68% with a nice comment from the judge "fun horse," and when she can keep her frame steady it will be a 78%.

My First Ride

Carette under saddle ~ 10 days.... it had been years since I rode a 3 year old. Many thanks to Jana & Emily Wagner of LaCygne, KS for doing an incredible job with youngsters.
